FC Bridge new-boy Danny Bennell scored a brace as his side progressed to the next round of the President's Cup.

The side emerged victorious 4-2 against Division Two side Yeading Abs in a closely thought contest.

Bridge took a commanding 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to a goal from Brad Hand and a powerful header from Bennell.

The game came alive in the second half when Abs were awarded a controversial penalty which they converted to get back into the game.

More questionably refereeing allowed Abs to equalise when play was allowed to continue despite Bridge's centre back being down injured.

Bridge introduced captain Murray Williamson and the man himself regained his sides lead when he struck home from close range following a free-kick.

The home side regained control with the lead and began to dominate possession, Bennell sealed victory and headed home his second from another set-piece from the in-form Tommy Edwards.

Bridge will now face league rivals Hillingdon Town in the next round, a side they beat 4-3 in October.

FC Bridge return to league action this weekend with a trip to Larkspur.
