Cambridge Utd 0-0 AFC Wimbledon

James Shea was a Dons hero - Ade Akinfenwas was something of a zero when he squandered a penalty that denied AFC all three points.

On Saturday, Cambridge had six put past them by Portsmouth, but they kept a clean sheet as a result of the miss. However, they were also left red faced thanks to Shea's brilliant spot-kick save in the second half.

Twelve-yard miss: Akinfenwa

The point moved his side up a place to 10th, much to the delight of 314 travelling Dons, but they had little to cheer in the first half.

The two main men of the first 45 both squandered chances to put their side ahead. Akinfenwa put headers wide of the same upright on 17 and 33 minutes, and at the other end, Cambridge's Robbie Simpson also went close - the second a decent save from James Shea.

However, Akinfenwa was guiltier still when he missed a penalty a minute into the second period.

Ade Azeez was brought down in the box by Josh Coulson, but The Beast's spot-kick only succeeded in bringing a great save from keeper Chris Dunn flinging himself to the left.

If that stop was good, Shea's was better. A corner caught the hand of Barry Fuller in the 59th minute, and from the spot Simpson's effort was brilliantly saved by Dons keeper.

However, Shea's heart was in his mouth when Sullay Kaikai was given the freedom of the box with eight minutes left, but fired wide to dent neither team's goals tally nor add to it.
