Chelsea 5-1 Manchester City

Chelsea moved into the FA Cup quarter finals as they saw off a young Manchester City side.

Guus Hiddink played a full strength side while City boss Manuel Pellegrini played a selection of youngsters in his starting line-up.

Diego Costa opened the scoring but it was cancelled out immediately by David Faupala as the visitors went in level at the break.

However, quick goals in succession from Willian, Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard put the tie beyond doubt and there was even time for Oscar to see his penalty saved by Willy Caballero.

However, Bertrand Traore had the final word as his header caught out the City goalkeeper.

Chelsea were, given their experience and nous, on the back foot early on as Faupala turned Cahill inside and out before his shot was saved by Thibaut Courtois.

The Blues came into the tie and Pedro hit the post after 15 minutes after fine work by Cesc Fabregas.

The home side did take the lead just under 10 minutes before the break and it was the Spaniard pulling the strings again as he lifted the ball over the City defence. Eden Hazard, who had had a quiet game up to that point, flicked the ball across and Costa headed it in.

Manchester City hit back immediately and Kelechi Iheanacho's cross was cleared onto Faupala by Cesar Azpilicueta.

The young City side may have got to half time but they were blown apart inside the first 10 minutes as Hazard first set up Willian to slot home before his cross was cleared as far as Cahill, who drove home.

The Belgian had only his second goal of the season with 25 minutes to go giftwrapped by Willy Caballero as he set his wall up poorly and gave Hazard a clear sight of goal, which he gratefully took.

The woeful Martin Demichelis bundled Bertrand Traore to the ground in the penalty area with Andre Marriner pointing to the spot.

Oscar, on as a substitute, stepped up to take it but his lackadaisical effort was parried away by Caballero.

There was time, though, for Bertrand Traore to finish proceedings with a backward header that caught Caballero in no man's land.
