Brentford 1-2 Cardiff

Brentford were masters of their own downfall as two errors cost them against Cardiff in a game they dominated from start to finish.

Andre Gray capitalised after Cardiff goalkeeper Simon Moore dropped Alex Pritchard's free kick to open the scoring in the first half.

But a mix-up between Brentford stopper David Button and defender Harlee Dean allowed the Bluebirds to level seven minutes into the second half.

And, with 22 minutes to go, a hopeful long ball beat the offside trap and, with Button in no-mans land, Alex Revell lobbed the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

Kadeem Harris saw red for a foul on Alan Judge late on as Brentford poured forward looking for an equaliser before Federico Macheda saw red with two minutes remaining.

Brentford started brightly and looked lively on the counter-attack and Jonathan Douglas had a goal disallowed after bundling Moore over.

Stuart Dallas should have given Brentford the lead when he had a clear sight of goal but his effort was miscued.

But the Bees had the lead on 28 minutes as Moore, on his return to Griffin Park, could only parry Pritchard's free-kick into the path of Gray, who tapped it into an empty net.

The striker then had a shot deflected over as the home side looked to make it two quickly.

Brentford weren't at their most fluid and, out of nothing, Cardiff were back into the game.

An innocuous cross led to Button dropping the ball after Dean got in his way and Macheda had the easiest goal he would score all season.

And, 10 minutes later, Cardiff led as a ball over the top allowed Revell to run through on goal and, with Button in no-mans land, lobbed the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

Cardiff became physical in their bid to maintain their lead and Harris was sent off as he went in for a 50-50 with Judge with the Bees man coming off worse.

Macheda then saw red as he was shown a second yellow for a high foot with the Bees pouring forward but Cardiff's goal led a charmed life with Moore making a fantastic save and the Bluebirds took the points.
