Barnet revelled in the magic of the FA Cup by knocking out League One Blackpool at the Hive this afternoon.

The Bees booked their spot in the second round with a comfortable 2-0 victory over their loftier opponents by striking two killer blows in five first-half minutes.

Blackpool boss Neil McDonald was forced into an early change between the sticks as captain Colin Doyle collided with John Akinde and had to be replaced by Kyle Letheren.

Letheren had only been on the field four minutes when he was picking the ball out of the net as he flapped at Curtis Weston’s cross and Tom Champion pounced to put the Bees in front.

They gave themselves breathing space before the break when Michael Gash knocked in a second to send them in with a healthy advantage at the interval.

And, in truth, Barnet were well worth the win despite the distance between the two clubs in the pyramid and will be looking forward to Monday’s draw with great anticipation.
