Dartford 0-2 Barnet

Barnet ended their Tuesday night hoodoo with an emphatic win away to relegation-threatened Dartford.

Goals in the first-half from Keanu Marsh-Brown and Luisma Villa helped Barnet to their first win since beating Kidderminster Harriers at the start of the month and win away for the first time on a Tuesday night since 2005.

There were two change to the Barnet team that lost 2-1 away to Grinsby Town on Saturday with Edgar Davids and Kieron Cadogan being replaced by Luke Gambin and Marsh-Brown, with the latter returning from suspension.

It did not take the talented winger long to notch his eighth goal of the season after opening the scoring on 17 minutes. Ahmed Abdulla slid through a sublime through ball, with Marsh-Brown latching onto this and firing his shot into the roof of the net.

Despite not playing at their best The Bees doubled their lead just after half-an-hour. Villa's tricky feet won him a free-kick on the edge of the box, which he picked himself up for and duly converted it into the roof of the net beyond the reach of the Dartford goalkeeper Phil Smith.

The second-half saw Barnet force through a number of opportunities with the first of these coming through Abdulla, whose half-volley was brilliantly tipped over by Smith.

On the hour mark Luke Gambin - who impressed in his first start after an injury lay-off - hit a stunning shot with the outside of his boot, only to see it rebound off the post.

Four minutes later and Gambin found himself, again, incredibly unlucky not to get on the scoresheet with him hitting a belting effort from 30 yards, striking the top of the bar.

The flurry of chances in this busy period were not exclusive to Barnet, with Dartford forcing their best efforts of the night after 66 minutes.

A looped shot almost deflected over Graham Stack, but he regained enough balance to push the ball over the bar. From the resulting corner, defensive rock David Stephens hacked the ball off the line.

Four minutes later and it was Barnet on the attack with them having a few opportunities in quick succession.

Substitute Kieron Cadogan manoeuvered in the box before hitting a low shot that was palmed away by Smith. The following corner found its way to Marsh-Brown, whose shot was athletically tipped over by the Dartford stopped; with the short corner after that seeing George Sykes head over the bar.

The win sees The Bees climb up to seventh place. They will be in FA Trophy action away to Hayes and Yeading this weekend.

Line up: Stack; Yiadom, Stephens, Saville, Johnson; Abdulla, Weston, Villa (Cadogan); Marsh-Brown, Gambin (Fletcher), Sykes (Nurse).
