Alfreton Town 1-1 Barnet

Martin Allen says is only interested in Barnet’s results after his title-chasing side were held at Alfreton Town.

A Curtis Weston tap-in looked to have secured the Bees victory before a stoppage-time penalty was smashed home by Bradley Wood to frustrate the travelling supporters.

Bristol Rovers missed the chance to go top after they played out a goalless draw with Macclesfield, keeping Barnet at the summit with just a matter of weeks remaining.

It was a major boost for the leaders but Allen insists he is only focused on getting points on the board at the Hive and not what his rivals are doing.

Allen told the BBC: “I’m disappointed. We played very, very well as a team. I wasn’t sure if it was a penalty but the ref gave it so we have to accept it.

“I’m not really bothered about them [Bristol Rovers]. I’m only interested in Barnet and our results. There’s only five games to go now and it’s very exciting.

“We were pretty average first half, but this lot fight. They are good physical players and this place is like a hill. It’s always going to be difficult.

“It’s a good point away from home. You’ve got to get the points on the board. I’d have liked three but one is good.

“Who’d have thought we’d have been top of the league for every week except two weeks. We’ve got great support and it’s all to play for.

“When I’m normally at Barnet it’s to fight relegation! So to be at the other end of the table is very exciting.”

Grimsby Town won 2-0 at Welling United to move above Rovers in the race for the Conference crown.
