A groundbreaking new women’s football team have announced Stanmore College will become their main sponsor and official education partner.

The London Bees, the first women’s team for the whole of London, held a media conference this afternoon to reveal details of the plans.

It is the biggest sponsorship deal in women’s club football and could amount to £500,000 over three years.

Tony Kleanthous, chairman of the London Bees, said: “We are pleased to welcome Stanmore College on board as our official education partner. In Stanmore College we have sponsors who not only values women’s football, but are also committed to enhancing the women’s game to a broader audience. We are very excited about the sponsorship and giving the opportunity to the students of Stanmore College to gain both work and educational opportunities with The London Bees and at The Hive.

“The team crest and kit have been designed by the students of Stanmore College and we hope that students across the whole of London will come to The Hive and create a carnival atmosphere cheering on the London Bees.”

The sponsorship aims to aid the development of women’s football. It also offers a pathway for students that want to get involved in the sports industry with educational work experience.

From catering to match day stewarding, The Hive London will be a full training facility for those looking to pursue a career in sport.

The deal coincides with the launch of a new and exciting brand in women’s football supporting the only professional team with a London name.

London Bees will play in The FA’s Women’s Super League which starts this summer, with Barnet’s Hive stadium playing host to the team.a
