HAREFIELD United stunned a much changed yet nonetheless strong Hayes & Yeading United side to progress in the Middlesex Senior Cup after a 1-0 extra time victory last night (Tuesday).

Reserve team striker Jake Lovell missed the best two chances of the night for H&Y, failing to convert free headers in the six yard area as his side started each half of normal time strongly.

However, the Hares improved towards half and full-time and only a brilliant save by Aaron Howe denied Chris Drake an 80th minute winner before they did clinch the tie in the 101st minute.

Another slick move, this time down the right, saw Drake play in Joe Kelly and Tom Cadmore’s slip on the rapidly freezing pitch allowed the Harefield winger to advance and deliver a perfect low cross for Luke Lloyd to turn in from close range.
