DIVISION ONE NORTH Witham Town 1 Hillingdon Borough 1

After 13 games or 1,170 minutes of football without a point Hillingdon Borough finally added to their league total.

Shaun Grant's early strike at fellow strugglers Witham Town was not enough to bring Boro their first win for more than three months and a draw against their nearest rivals looks unlikely to be enough to spark a successful survival bid.

Steve Hale's side remains six points behind Witham and 10 points off safety with 14 games to play.

Boro went into the clash in positive mood following the midweek display against Cheshunt, whom they led into stoppage time only to ship two goals but they could not reproduce that form.

Witham had the majority of attacking play in the first half yet very little of it concerned Ben Harris in the Boro goal and the visitors grabbed a 15th minute when Joe Gallager took a quick free kick and Grant steered the ball home while

Witham defenders were still arguing with the referee.

Hillingdon had a good chance to extend their lead at the start of the second half but a powerful header from Dave Stevens struck keeper Rhys Madden's hand and went wide to safety.

Sam Warrell burst through but was denied by a last ditch tackle and Steve Midega was halted twice in quick succession as Hillingdon tried but failed to put the game out of Witham's reach.

And with 20 minutes remaining Witham got the equaliser when Dave Barefield was given far too much time on the edge of the box and with Harris off his line he chipped the ball delicately into the vacant net.

Hillingdon survived a further scare when Witham found the net again but it was ruled out for a foul on Harris as he attempted to save.
