VERSATILE Andy Yiadom doesn’t know where he will slot into Edgar Davids’ plans for next season yet.
Yiadom has a big role to play for the Bees but it may be playing further back than the speedy 21-year-old winger is used to.
Barnet boss Davids fielded Yiadom as a makeshift full-back in last night’s victory over St Albans in the club’s opening pre-season fixture of the summer.
Despite playing in defence, the former Hayes & Yeading star was still able to get himself on the scoresheet against the Saints and was pleased with his performance.
He said: “We are taking each step as it comes in terms of where I will be playing. I’m not 100 per cent sure yet [where I will play] but as long as I do a job for the team, that is what matters.
““It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt. A lot of it is about fitness, and putting as much in as you can.
“I thought the game went well. We got an early goal, which was nice; and also, my name on the goal-sheet was good.
“It was good to win the game because it helps with the team morale. Its early days and the team and I still have a lot to work on.”
Yiadom was a key player for Barnet last season and made 42 appearances for the club as they were relegated from League Two.
