An U15s football team run by staff at Ealing Council’s Young Adult Centre in Southall has won their division of the Harrow Youth Football League for the second year in a row.

The team, called YAC Star Ealing FC, is made up of boys from Southall and the surrounding area, and out of 18 games played, they won 17 and drew one, finishing this season unbeaten and claiming the Division Three title.

This mirrors last season’s performance, which also saw them finish the season without losing a game and taking home the trophy for Division Five.

With the team having only been together two years, it means they have never lost a single game together.

Captain Ryan Howard, from Southall, said: “This is our second year together and we have played as a team and acted like a unit. After an unbeaten run last season we have kept our concentration and again have finished this year without losing a game too.

“We have done ourselves proud and also our team management and the Young Adults Centre. Thanks to David Quamina, Jeffrey Campbell, Tom Pytlos, Jim Betts, Jack Leon and David Moyse. Our unbeaten streak will hopefully carry through when we play next season.”

Councillor Binda Rai, cabinet member for children and young people, added: “Congratulations to the team. To finish the season unbeaten and to do it for the second year running is an incredible achievement by our young players.  This success is a demonstration of their hard work, persistence and focus, as well as a real commitment to training.  The Young Adult Centre in Southall is always busy and has lots of activities besides football. I hope that this win encourages more people to come along and see what is on offer.”

YAC Star are planning on competing again next year. Boys who wish to try for next year’s team should be in either year 10 or 11 from September as the team will be competing in the U16s division.

The Young Adult Centre is on Park View Road, Southall. For more information about YAC Star Ealing FC or other events and activities taking place at the centre, call 020 8571 0685 or go to  www.youngealing.co.uk .
