Wycombe Wanderers legend Keith Scott is interested in replacing Phil Babb at Hayes & Yeading United.

The former striker was instrumental in the Chairboys’ 1991 and 1993 FA Trophy victories and promotion to the Football League having been signed by Martin O’Neill.

He went on to play for the likes of Swindon, Stoke, Norwich, Bournemouth and Reading before finishing his playing career in non-league with Windsor & Eton and Northwood.

Taking notes: Tristan Lewis (R) is in temporary charge at United

A UEFA A license holder, Scott was appointed Manager of Leighton Town in October 2006 and resigned to take control of Windsor & Eton in December 2007.

United are on the lookout for a new manager following the departure of Babb this week by mutual consent.

Director of football Tristan Lewis is in charge of first-team affairs while the club searches for a successor.

Applicant: Rufus Brevett also wants the job

Scott faces competition for the Hayes & Yeading job from former QPR and Fulham defender Rufus Brevett , who GetWestLondon revealed has already applied for the role.

Another ex-QPR man, Kevin Gallen, is also believed to be considering putting in his CV and interim boss Lewis, who will be in charge for next weekend’s trip to Sutton.

Babb’s departure came following a run of 10 games without a defeat as United slipped closer to the relegation zone on Tuesday night.
