Ben Wright was left cursing his luck on Saturday.

The Hampton & Richmond Borough striker scored at Eastleigh, but was two strikes off the crossbar away from a hat-trick.

His shot which did find the target was a dazzler, firing in from 20 yards out to give Hampton a fifth-minute lead in their Blue Square South clash.

And just before half-time he lobbed the home keeper, only to see his shot crash back off the bar.

Seven minutes into the second-half Wright was holding his head in disbelief when he did it again, this time from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Eastleigh made the most of their good fortune, netting twice in four minutes soon after to snatch a 2-1 victory and bring Hampton's five-game winning streak in the league to an end.

The Beavers host Worcester City at Beveree on Saturday.

* ASHFORD Town (Middx) bounced back from Saturday's 7-1 Ryman Premier thrashing by Tonbridge Angels by winning 5-0 at Banstead Athletic in the Surrey Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

Scott Harris and Gavin Smith both bagged braces, while Scott Todd also netted for Ashford, who have no game on Saturday.

Town, who had no game themselves last Saturday, host Ryman Premier title-rivals Dover on Saturday, but have no fewer than 10 players missing - including Howard and Jake Newton on international duty with Guyana.
