Ian Holloway reckons the qualities of James Perch demand a round of applause.

The 31-year-old has his detractors, not least because of the eight yellow and one red card he's picked up this season, but Ollie can only see the positives.

The former Newcastle and Wigan defender has been latterly converted into a right-sided midfielder for Rangers, much to the gaffer's approval.

Attempt: Bobby Reid of Bristol City (L) tries to tackle James Perch

"The great thing about Perchy is no matter where you play him he knows how to play there, it doesn't bother him," he said.

"He's just about one of the best pro's I've ever had to be honest.

"Perchy knows that and the best thing about him is be can play anywhere across midfield, and anywhere at the back.

"He knows I really like him as well. He knows everyday he gets stuck in and does what I want, he's a really talented boy and I'm delighted to have him.

"Perchy is superb as a bloke and will take whatever I do without sulking and without pulling a silly face."

It would be interesting to hear from Rs fans if they share the same opinions on Perch as the boss.

Perch, Ollie and co hope to bounce back from a gutting 1-0 defeat to Blackburn when they face Huddersfield at Loftus Road on Saturday.
