QPR came agonisingly close to securing a point against Preston, losing 1-0 to a late Jordan Hugill winner.

The task was made harder when Jamie Mackie was given a straight-red card on 22 minutes, leaving his team-mates in the lurch for the remainder of the game.

The Hoops looked solid, but were caught out late on.

But who was QPR's top performer?

Three stars - Josh Scowen

The midfielder led by example in an exposed QPR midfield.

Scowen was key in organising the Hoops defence after Jamie Mackie was sent off, and did excellently to guide Ilias Chair throught a tricky league debut.

Two stars - Pawel Wszolek

Utilised in a traditional right-back role, Wszolek did excellently to handle Callum Robinson on the flank.

As well as looking composed in defence, he showed great ability going forward, creating chances out of nothing and providing a little respite for the under pressure QPR.

One star - Ilias Chair

The youngster did well considering the circumstances, covering Jake Bidwell well on the left flank.

Also showed some quality on the ball, showcasing his excellent control of the ball and passing range at times.

A real talent, and certainly deserves another chance to impress.
