Tottenham don’t know what they are missing – ask Harry Redknapp at QPR.

The Rs boss claims Spurs’ best left-back is with him on loan in the Championship.

In fact, Benoit Assou-Ekotto has only two names ahead of his on Harry’s list in the entirety of British football – and one of them is not Danny Rose.

The Spurs defender returned to play 45 minutes on Thursday in the Europa League win over Anzhi Makhachkala after injury. But Redknapp reckons his capture of the Cameroon international in the summer was a steal.

He added: “Benoit’s one of the top three left-backs in the country. He’s too good for the Championship.

“When I was at Tottenham with him, it was never a case of wondering whether I was going to play him or him or him in that position.

“Benoit played left-back every game and that included Champions League and League Cup finals.

“There’s only Ashley Cole and (Leighton) Baines you would put in front of him, and I couldn’t think of too many others.

“They (Spurs) let me take him on loan and I’m glad he's here. He’s a top player.”
