Hopes that Fulham might finally break free of the travel sickness which has blighted them in recent seasons are already taking a dent.

Saturday's 1-0 defeat at West Brom was further evidence that away games will prove as problematic as they were until the tail end of last season.

Perhaps it was not the fairest time to judge the Whites' merits, with Andy Johnson still settling in and forced to sit out the visit to the hawthorns because of the red card he picked up the week before.

But the fcat remains that Fulham have still looked a little lightweight away from the Cottage, losing all four games they have played against teams they might have expected to beat or hold to a draw.

How to become more potent away from home will be occupying Roy Hodgson's thoughts as he surveys the league table going into another international break.

Fulham were arguably a little unlucky against Albion. They carved out two of the games best chances - Zoltan Gera going close in the first half against his former team with Danny Murphy a whisker away towards the end froma quickly-taken free-kick squared to him by Jimmy Bullard. And although the home side did most of the pressing, keeper Mark Schwarzer was not that busy.

But scrambled winner from Roman Bednar summed up an afternoon of disappointment for the Whites, who never looked like taking the game by the scruff of the neck.

Bullard, ommitted from Fabio Capello's latest England squad, was a little off form and Fulham could ill-afford the stray passes he was guilty of in the first half.

The continuing away woes add unwanted pressure for the home games and the next one against Sunderland on October 18 now takes on greater importance than it looked like doing a couple of weeks ago.
