It’s been a slightly different type of summer to what many fans are used to at Loftus Road, but it’s been a transfer window of steady progress.

The signings of Josh Scowen, Alex Baptiste and Kazenga Lua Lua have been shrewd acquisitions by QPR, but a far cry from years gone by when the club would bring in eight or nine new players.

But stability can only be a good thing.

Constant upheaval behind the scenes is no good for anyone, as even highly paid footballers need to feel settled day to day when they head into work.

But what can QPR fans expect from the final two weeks of the transfer window?

I’d expect a one in-one out situation now where players will leave before new recruits are brought in.

What Holloway has is a squad with sufficient depth, however a number of players may still move on; whether this be due to financial gain, or simply because they don’t feature in Ian Holloway’s plans.

I won’t speculate on players who could head through the exit door, but Holloway will know exactly which players he will be keen to keep hold of, and which he sees as dispensable.

Top of the list of players to retain, surely, is Alex Smithies who is a priceless asset, and one that should be retained unless an exceptional offer comes in.

Fans like to hear that their star players are not for sale, but the stark reality is that every player has his price, regardless of how crucial they are.

However the issue at this stage of the window is whether the club will have time to suitably replace any outgoings before the window slams shut.

For this reason QPR will be doing everything they can to retain the main core of the squad, with any potential outgoing players no doubt sitting on the sidelines more often than not, meaning they are slightly easier to replace with just two weeks remaining of the transfer window.
