Brentford are likely to field different teams in each half at Aldershot, Dean Smith has revealed.

The Bees travel to Hampshire for their first pre-season friendly of the campaign after two weeks of work at their Jersey Road training base.

And Smith confirmed that he will be using the game as a chance to get some minutes into the legs of his squad, which will include a host of B team players, while no chances will be taken on injuries.

He said: “We'll be working on some ideas in the pre-season games. The first couple of games will be getting 45 minutes into the players' legs and the next four games will be what we're working to set up for the season.

“If I have any fear of anybody being out for a longer term then I'll be pulling them off.”

New signing Luke Daniels will make his first start while Henrik Dalsgaard may feature.

Lasse Vibe, Andreas Bjelland and Romaine Sawyers have been given the evening off after returning to training on Wednesday.

Smith added: “The three of Lasse, Andreas and Romaine won't be involved on Friday. I'll see how the week pans out with John Egan and Henrik Dalsgaard.”

The head coach also knows it will be nice to see the supporters again with some travelling from the likes of Warrington and Almeria for the contest.

Smith added: “It will be nice to see the fans again. It's nice to get back into games. I'm not the biggest lover of pre-season games.

“You want everyone to get through fit and injury free. I'm looking forward to it now.”
