Eden Hazard is the player that lifts Chelsea to greatness, says Cesc Fabregas – but the Belgian still needs to prove himself on the European stage.

On Sunday Hazard netted his 19th goal of a stellar campaign for a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, in which he was named PFA Player of the Year, and fittingly was the one that secured the Premier League title for the Blues.

Advice: Cesc Fabregas

Fabregas said of his team mate: “He’s had a fantastic season, I just want for him to do it again next year and to be even better. He’s the main guy.

“In my mind he is the guy that makes this team better than it is.

“Next year he has to prove himself in the Champions League as well because he is capable of that, and I am sure he will give many big nights of glory to this club.”

Asked of Hazard could be up there with the likes of greats such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Spaniard said: “He can be one of those, for sure. He can be up there for sure.”
