Matt Smith is expecting significantly better from Queens Park Rangers when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Loftus Road on Easter Monday.

Smith barely had a kick against Bristol City on what was certainly not a good Friday for the Hoops, as they went down to an "abject" 2-1 defeat.

And Smith is looking for a response from his team-mates.

He said: "In the last couple of games we've shown a lot of endeavour and positivity and I don't think we've shown that [against Bristol City].

"This is the first game in my spell here that I've really felt truly disappointed because of the performance.

"We were not in it at all. It was just one we need to put to the back of our minds and move on really.

"We want to finish the season strongly. We're very honest, we want to go out and win every game, it's not a case of us taking our foot off the pedal because there's only a couple of weeks left, we're all hurting and we've got that mental strength to bounce back.

"Monday is a new opportunity to bounce back at Loftus Road, we seem to play a lot better there than we have done away of late, so it's back to home comforts and let's take the game to Sheffield Wednesday.

"There is zero time to feel sorry for ourselves, it's about rolling up our sleeves working a bit harder to make amends. We have to turn in something significantly better."
