Mark Warburton has categorically ruled out changing his Brentford side's formation to accommodate Chris Long and Andre Gray up front.

The Bees play a 4-2-3-1 formation with the advanced midfield three helping the main striker, whichever one it may be.

But Warburton will not shift to a 4-4-2 in order for the pair to work together, although he remains thrilled with their contributions to the season with Long scoring four times since joining in January, while Gray has found the net 15 times this season.

He said: “Andre could play wide. They could play in the same team but the system works for us.

“Why should we go 4-4-2? We are where we are because of what we've done so far. Andre could play wide right.

Longy can play on the left and cut in. We've got Jon Toral, Jota, Tommy Smith and Alex Pritchard.

“We're spoiled for choice. When we have a single striker it demands qualities of that play. We're happy with two strikers.

“For example, Cardiff were camped in their box centrally. We were only going to hurt them from wide positions.

“When chasing the game we're positive in our selection. We like attacking. I don't know how attacking we can go.”
