Brentford manager Mark Warburton insists the focus is on getting the right result against Wigan and hoping Derby and Ipswich fall to a defeat.

For the Bees to qualify for the play-offs they must beat the Latics and either the Rams lose to Reading or the Tractor Boys are beaten by Blackburn with a three goal swing.

Fans will, no doubt, be checking their phones and radios to keep up to date of goings on at the iPro Stadium and Ewood Park but Warburton's focus is on Wigan.

He said: “I tend to have tunnel vision. I'm sure we'll hear enough on Saturday. Can you imagine that results go your way and we don't do our job.

“We have to focus on getting the right result. We know what we have to do.”

David Weir said ahead of the 2-1 win against Derby in November that the team's final result would not come down to goal difference.

However, it is possible that it will come to that and, were the Bees to miss out, Warburton would avoid hyper-analysing for mistakes made over the course of the season.

He added: “You could dissect a game to death. You have to look at the squad and say if we post 78 points it's a magnificent figure and staggering it's not enough.”
