AFC Wimbledon claimed their first win of the calendar year after beating Accrington Stanley on Saturday.                     

The Dons were 2-1 winners at Kingmseadow thanks to Sean Rigg's opener and Ade Azeez's decisive second goal.

Adam Buxton struck two minutes from Wimbledon chief Neal Ardley was pleased to end a run of three straight defeats but cooled talk of making the play-offs.

He said: “Personally I think the top eight teams are solid and consistent, and I can’t see them losing too many games.

“However from our point of view we would have to go on one amazing run to challenge for the play-off places."

The win over Stanley leaves the Dons 12th in League Two, just five points shy of Bury in seventh place.
