Harry Redknapp has gone over to the dark side and joined Twitter.

In the space of just 30 minutes this morning he gained nearly 20,000 followers after launching @Redknapp, with the rider: ‘Football Manager, Pundit; Lover of sport.

It’s a far cry from the man who decried the social media platform throughout his time with Hoops, but one who launched his own account with the first tweet: ‘Lets see what all this is about then.’

The manager scoffed at the medium time and time again at Rs, not least because captain Joey Barton controversially posted comments Redknapp was required to defend.

Things came to a ahead in October 2014 when Rio Ferdinand was fined £25,000 by the FA for offensive comments made on Twitter and banned for three games.

At the time the ex-manager said: “I don’t know what Twitter is, and I don’t want to know. It doesn’t interest me to be honest.”

Until now, it seems.

Redknapp resigned as Rangers boss a day after the January transfer window citing medical concerns.
