Young Brentford left back Tom Field has signed a new deal with the Bees, keeping him at the club until 2020.

The 19-year-old made his debut in the 3-0 win over Fulham last season and started the west Londoner's last two matches at Bristol City and Leeds. With Rico Henry returning in January, Field will be rivalling the former Walsall man for a starting berth.

He joined the club as a 15-year-old and turned professional in 2015 when he signed a development squad contract.

Brentford head coach Dean Smith told the club's official website: "We are really pleased that Tom has committed this stage of his career to Brentford FC and feel we can both work together to continue his development, which has already shown great potential and help him become an established Championship player.

"The season has been interrupted with little injuries but in the last few weeks he has got back into the first team and performed to levels we expect from him.

“Our future as a club looks bright having two young 19 year old left backs with undoubted potential competing with each other for the next four years."

Field T has made five Brentford appearances in all competitions, starting on four occasions and is the second player to sign a new deal this week after Lewis Macleod.
