QPR suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 2-0 against Norwich City.

The Hoops certainly played their part in the game but were outclassed by two well-taken goals to secure the win.

But what did we learn from the defeat? We take a look at the three main talking points from the defeat at Carrow Road.

Alex Smithies

The former Huddersfield stopper one of few positives to come out of the display.

Making a number of outstanding saves, you could quite easily say that he single-handedly stopped the hosts getting three or four over the 90 minutes.

Smithies is clearly a stand-out performer for the Hoops, and QPR will certainly let out a small sigh of relief when the transfer window slams shut and they can confirm that the stopper will still be at Loftus Road for the foreseeable.

A leaky defence

Following a resolute first half display, the nerves seemed to kick in during the second half as Norwich found the breakthrough.

Whether those cracks that appeared were an anomaly remain to be seen, but based on the murmurs of the QPR fans it remains an area in need of strengthening.

Time to rotate the squad?

Ian Holloway’s decision to retain the same starting eleven for the third-straight league match was admirable, but it was a decision which unfortunately didn’t pay off.

None of the players should hang their heads in shame, but is the defeat a sign that Ian Holloway should look to make changes against Hull City.

If fit, the likes of Yeni Ngbakoto, Kazenga Lua Lua and Matt Smith could all come into contention, but with no players being immediate contenders to be dropped, it’ll be interesting to see how Ollie responds come this weekend.
