Queens Park Rangers are in need of strengthening this summer after a poor campaign in the Championship.

There is certainly work to do from Ian Holloway and his scouting staff, and they are expected to look at a number of players in the Championship and maybe the odd loan from the Premier League.

However, what about the best players from League One last season? There are certainly some gems to look at.

Below, Digital Football Writer Mark Ritson has picked out three of the division's standout talents that Rangers should consider next season.

The club's final third displays are in need of an improvement, so there are three attack-minded stars below that Holloway could look at.

Josh Morris

The Scunthorpe United star had a quite outstanding season for Iron, racking up an incredible 19 goals and 17 assists from midfield.

Morris is left-footed and can play out wide or in the middle of the park. That sort of creativity is what QPR have ben craving at times.

A product of Blackburn Rovers' academy, he was released in 2015 and joined Bradford City. It didn't work out for him there and he signed for Scunthorpe last summer on a free.

And what a season he produced, helping the club to the top of League One for quite some time, before they ended up in the play-offs. He scored a hatrick last September from midfield, too.

Morris is likely to attract a number of clubs this summer - Scunthorpe certainly have a fight on their hands to keep him.

James Vaughan

Yes, recognise the name? Of course you do, having played in the Premier League with Everton, before spells at Norwich City and Huddersfield Town.

Vaughan hit an excellent 24 goals for a struggling Bury outfit last season and is surely going to attract bigger clubs again. He was also named in the League One Team of the Year.

Hit by injuries previously, he dropped down into English football's third tier to ressurect his career last summer, leaving Birmingham City, and didn't he just do that?

QPR fans have been calling for goalscorer, and you'd expect him to get at least 15 goals in the Championship. Still only 28, he's at his peak and is worth a look at.

Ricky Holmes

In what turned out to be a mediocre season for Charlton Athletic, Holmes, on the other hand, produced a terrific campaign for the Addicks.

The winger scored 13 times, grabbed six assists and is a dead-ball specialist. He's pretty lethal from free-kicks.

Holmes was in non-league a few years ago, joined Portsmouth and then helped Northampton Town win the League Two title a year ago and made the step up to League One with ease.

His former manager at Northampton, Chris Wilder, now in charge at Sheffield United, is reportedly after him for their return to the Championship.

Not afraid to take people on and have a shot from long range, Holmes is untried at Championship level and will turn 30 this summer. You'd probably get a couple of good seasons out of him.

Holmes scooped Charlton's player of the year award with ease, too.
