QPR face a tricky test as prepare to face Preston at Deepdale this weekend; a task which will be much harder was they prepare to travel without a star player.

Luke Freeman misses out after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Brentford on Monday night, meaning he will serve a one-match suspension against the Lilywhites.

But who are the contenders to fill the void left by Freeman? We take a look at three midfielders who will be looking to get the opportunity to impress.

Ryan Manning

The youngster can count himself a little unfortunate not to have been given more opportunities this term, with the form of Josh Scowen, Massimo Luongo and Luke Freeman making that midfield unit a tough nut to crack.

Manning has been utilised at left wing-back most often this term, but with Freeman missing out he'll be hoping that he will have the chance to show what he can do in his preferred position as he looks to stake a claim for a regular spot in Ollie's side.

Jordan Cousins

The midfielder has had his injury problems so far this term, but has done well to break into Holloway's starting XI in recent weeks, albeit in a right wing-back position.

Cousins has done well in that role, but make well be utilised in the more familiar central midfield role, allowing the likes of Pawel Wszolek to fill in on the right in a small reshuffle for Ollie's side.

Yeni Ngbakoto

The DR Congo international has had a frustrating time this season, with Holloway opting for a formation which isn't tailored to the free attacking role usually preferred by Ngbakoto.

He has, at time, been utilised in a deeper lying midfield position, and while it doesn't appear to be a position that comes naturally, the 25-year-old may well be given another opportunity to impress in the engine room, a position which he may need to adapt to if he is to fit into Ollie's plans long-term.
