ALAN BARLOW and Tommy Owens both bagged braces as Bedfont Sports kept their Middlesex County Premier title hopes alive with a 4-1 win at Willesden Constantine on Saturday.

Owens grabbed his first soon after from the spot after Mark Clarke was brought down in the box, but not before Leeyon Phelan thought he had scored with his first touch.

Phelan found the top corner two minutes in, having just been waved on after arriving late and getting changed on the sidelines, but the whistle had already gone for the penalty.

Owens then set up Alan Barlow for a tap-in, then scored from the spot again after Phelan was this time bundled over.

Barlow then joined Owens in a battle for a hat-trick neither got after the linesman, who was not Russian, gave a goal when his shot bounced off the bar and over the line Geoff Hurst-style.

* HAVING BEEN knocked out of the County Cup on penalties a few weeks back, lightning struck twice for Indian Gymkhana on Saturday.

They exited the Middlesex County League Premier Cup semi-final on spot-kicks too following a 2-2 draw with Hayes Gate.

A Manjinder Madhar effort and and an own-goal proved fruitless in the end.

However, Sukhvinder Liddar netted four as the reserves swept aside Imperial College Reserves 7-2 in the Senior Reserve Division.

Kunal Marld also bagged a brace, while Gurpreet Bansal made the scoresheet too.

* THOMAS JOHN was denied a certain late equaliser as Hounslow Wanderers went down 2-1 in their derby at CB Hounslow United Social on Saturday.

With his side trailing 2-1 in the Middlesex County League Division One clash, John was just about to pull the trigger when he was brought down on the edge of the area, and the resulting free-kick was blocked.

Ricky Casse had earlier equalised CB's opener from Ben Sidhu's cross for Wanderers, but CB took the points. Sidhu had another chance to equalise for Wanderers, but put Jas Sangha's through-ball high and wide.
