Queens Park Rangers have been praised by their fans for handing the number ten shirt this season to Stan Bowles.

The club legend is suffering with Alzheimer's Disease and there will be a special testimonial match for the Hoops' greatest ever player this weekend when they play Bournemouth at Loftus Road.

The benefit match has been a long time in the making and more than 7,500 tickets have already been sold, with many more expected to pay on the day to pay tribute to Bowles.

And the club have gone the extra mile in honouring the great man after releasing the squad numbers for the 2017/18 Championship season.

There will not be a number ten in this campaign, with the shirt retired for once year only, in honour of Bowles, with supporters able to purchase replica kits with #JUSTFORSTAN and number ten on the back for just £10.

And this move has gone down well with the fans, very well indeed.

Here's the best of the social media reaction to the initiative.
