Fulham are still seeking their first away win of the season in the Premier League after succumbing to Kenwyne Jones' 55th minute goal at Sunderland on Tuesday night.
The Whites, who have managed to collect several 0-0 draws on their travels, did their best to inject more adventure into their play at the Stadium of Light, but the chronic lack of goals continues in top-flight games.
They have only three strikes in 11 matches and Paul Konchesky, Clint Dempsey and Seol Ki-Hyeon are the only ones to have netted, with only Dempsey's strike at Portsmouth was good enough to earn a point.
It was a far cry from Saturday, when the Whites found the target four times - albeit against non-league opposition in the FA Cup. Goals from Siomon Davies, Danny Murphy (with the aid of a telling deflection), Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora settled the fourth round tie.
And the Whites were handed their third successive away draw when they were paired with Championship form side Swansea City. That tie at the Liberty Stadium stakes place on February 14 (12.45pm) and will be screened live.
