THE SNOW that made February a no-go area for Sportsman's League Division Three is about to blow it some good next month.

Because it will be deep into May before the title is decided after the weekend's results drew two west London teams closer to each other.

London Eagles from Maida Vale finally got past leaders Bec on Sunday while the other challengers, RBL Fulham, could only get one set of three points from their double header with Invictus.

Only two points separate all three, with Bec having played a game more than RBL (second) and two more than Eagles (third).

RBL also have the best goal difference by some way over the other two.

LONDON EAGLES..................4 BEC UNITED...........................1

EAGLES boss Rashid El-Ghaoubar was sweating all the way to the last 20 minutes - and not just because of the April sun.

His title contenders were a goal down against the league leaders from Tooting until Omar Maghait finally levelled things up.

This broke Bec's stubborn resistance, and El-Ghaoubar's kid brother Ayoub increased family fortunes by putting Eagles into the lead straight after.

Mosak Mohammed made it 3-1, and the best was saved until last when Jafsar Alarubei let go from 35 yards to emphatically seal the points.

RBL FULHAM.........................2 INVICTUS..................0 RBL FULHAM..................0 INVICTUS................1 (DOUBLE-HEADER)

THE CUP was half-empty for RBL after they hit the post and suffered Frank Angus's missed penalty in the second match of the doubleheader on Sunday.

Having eased past Invictus in the first game, courtesy of strikes from Adam Andrews and Danny Thomas, the second saw Fulham wilting in the heat while ruing missed chances.

No one needed to remind captain Ian McMinn about the cruelty of the game when Invictus broke away to score in the last five minutes - although for once a Sunday side praised the man-in-the-middle.

McMinn said: "The referee was superb, and it was a pleasure to be involved in both games."
