The Euro 2016 group stage is over and the 16 surviving teams and their assorted stars must now recuperate and refocus ahead of the knockout stages.

Here, our colleagues at Press Association Sport have collated their France-based reporters' teams of the tournament so far.

Many of the names put forward here won't come as a surprise to football fans, however there have been one or two performers who have exceeded expectations this summer and they have been been recognised here.

Chelsea targets Alvaro Morata, Romelu Lukaku and Leonardo Bonucci have all caught the eye, while the man who could be bossing them next season, Antonio Conte , has only enhanced his reputation.

So, without further ado, let's take a look at who has been impressing them as we enter the business end of the European Championships.

Simon Peach (following England)

Leader: Italy's defender Leonardo Bonucci celebrates

4-3-3: McGovern, Srna, Boateng, Bonucci, Alba, Dier, Kroos, Perisic, Payet, Bale, Morata.

GK: MICHAEL McGOVERN (Northern Ireland): A relative unknown before the tournament, the goalkeeper shone in the narrow defeat to Germany and made 15 saves over the course of the group stage.

RB: DARIJO SRNA (Croatia): Kyle Walker pushed him close but not only did the Croatia captain perform impressively, he managed to do so while coping with the passing of his father. Srna flew home for the funeral but played all three matches.

CB: JEROME BOATENG (Germany): Has comfortably become one of the best defenders in the world and has been solid at Euro 2016, not only helping keep two clean sheets but also managing an impressive 87 per cent pass accuracy.

CB: LEONARDO BONUCCI (Italy): The composed, imposing centre-back has impressed for the Azzurri and not only defensively, with his wonderful pass to Emanuele Giaccherini seeing off Belgium in the group opener.

LB: JORDI ALBA (Spain): Fresh from another fine season with Barcelona, the left-back comes into the team of the group stage after impressing for the reigning champions.

CM: ERIC DIER (England): The defender-cum-defensive midfielder has shone for Roy Hodgson's men, shielding the defence with aplomb and chipping in going forwards. Dier's free-kick in the opener against Russia was impressive, too.

CM: TONI KROOS (Germany): Incredible vision and technique makes the 26-year-old one of the best midfielders in Europe. He was deservedly named man-of-the-match in Germany's 2-0 win against Ukraine.

CM: IVAN PERISIC (Croatia): The mixture of tireless energy and skill has seen the winger shine, with the latter of the Inter Milan man's two goals securing a famous win that not only beat Spain but saw Croatia progress as group winners.

FW: DIMITRI PAYET (France): Initially dismissed by France boss Didier Deschamps, the West Ham man's form led to a recall and what an inspired decision it has proven to be. Outstanding for the hosts with two man-of-the-match displays and as many goals. Player of the tournament so far.

FW: GARETH BALE (Wales): The Real Madrid attacker talked a good game and backed it up with performances on the field. Bale netted in all three matches as Wales won Group B.

FW: ALVARO MORATA (Spain): The much-vaunted striker has added a few million to his price tag in France, netting three goals after a frustrating display in Spain's Euro 2016 opener against the Czech Republic.
