Barnet goalkeeper Graham Stack has revealed that he will have the final decision in the selection process for his understudy.

Stack, who is Barnet’s first choice keeper but also has a role as the club’s goalkeeper coach, was working alongside Bees boss Martin Allen in identifying a deputy shot-stopper.

But the former U21 Republic of Ireland international has admitted that he has been given the major responsibility in bringing in a suitable protégé for the new season.

“The gaffer will always have the final say on who we sign, but he has left it up to me to bring goalies in, get in touch with them and have them settled in once they get there,” the football league veteran said.

“I have given the gaffer an opinion on what I have seen in training and how I think the games have gone for certain goalies.

“I must admit, I think all the goalies we have had in have done reasonably well, to be fair to them. It is a case now of trying to nail one down before the season starts.

“I have my say but at the end of the day the gaffer is the one who makes that decision,” Stack added.
