QPR boss Ian Holloway confirmed that he received a donation from a staff member at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club towards the Grenfell disaster fund.

The Hoops are set to hold the charity match “Game for Grenfell” at Loftus Road on September 2nd, and Holloway said that receiving this donation “is what football is all about”.

Speaking to GetWestLondon, the QPR boss said: “Football fans never cease to amaze me. We’re very very privileged to love a game like this.

“Every time I come to Sheffield, I get this. The people of Sheffield are something else.

“Two different ladies gave me some sweets, and they always do, and one handed me a card with a donation for the Grenfell disaster.

“That is what it’s about for me. I love this place and I love the people so thank you so much.

“It’s always a pleasure to come up here. It’s a wonderful club, well supported and I want to wish them good luck with their new ambitions.”
