Brentford forward Sergi Canos has started running again as he steps up his recovery from a twisted ankle, sustained in the 0-0 draw at Aston Villa earlier this month.

The Spaniard has been beset by ankle problems, injuring the same one in the final pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo.

His absence has been felt by the Bees, who only won their first game of the campaign on Saturday when they claimed a 3-0 win at Bolton Wanderers.

And, with the Bees facing Derby tonight, Canos took to Twitter to say he was on the way back to full fitness once again.

He wrote on social media: "Back to running. Almost there," and included a video of him on an anti-gravity treadmill.

Canos is not expected to be involved against Middlesbrough on Saturday but Brentford are hopeful he will return to action when Millwall visit Griffin Park on October 14.
