Sergi Canos explained his celebration against Fulham was all about encouraging the Brentford fans to continue to support their team.

The Spaniard, a fans' favourite at Griffin Park, celebrated his goal, which cancelled out Neeskens Kebano's opener, by pointing to the Bees' badge in front of the Fulham fans before turning to the Bees and lifting his arms in a bid to encourage them further.

It worked as Romaine Sawyers and Ollie Watkins found the net in the second half to give Brentford victory over their west London rivals.

He told the club's official website: “When the fans get behind us we’re unstoppable – with everyone pulling in the same direction we’re an amazing team. Every time I ask the fans for something they come through for us – they were brilliant today.

“To be back in the starting XI and to score means everything. I’m over the moon. Everyone needs to be in the same boat and I tried to show that with my gestures and my celebration.”

Canos was forced off with cramp late in the contest, with his high energy style in part being a cause of it, but should be fine to face Hull next weekend.

He said: “It was just cramping. I’ve had two injuries and I’ve been a bit unlucky this season, but now I’m trying to get back.

“I hope everyone can understand that I’m working hard to push towards a full 90 minutes. Hopefully I’ll manage that within the next two or three games.”
