Brentford FC now have nobody to fear but themselves, according to boss Andy Scott.

Saturday's 1-0 win over Bury was the Bees' third win over a promotion rival in less than a month, having also put Shrewsbury and Rochdale to the sword.

However, despite that, Scott's men have also lost at the likes of Macclesfield and Morecambe in recent weeks, and were a last-minute equaliser away from defeat at Accrington too.

So it comes as no surprise, asked if his table-topping side have anyone left to fear, Scott looked no further than the enemy within.

He said: "The only people who can beat us is us, and this league has a real ability to kick you in the teeth. But it's up to the others to catch us now. We have games coming thick and fast now, but that's how the lads want it, so they can secure promotion.

"And if we maintain this sort of form and confidence, there's no reason why we can't."

Marcus Bean's volley after Bury failed to properly clear a Sam Wood free-kick just before half-time secured the points for Brentford.

But there was an anxious moment before Bean's goal when Bees' keeper Ben Hamer snatched a goal-bound Efe Sodje effort right on the line, with Bury's players claiming it has crossed - but even photographic evidence after the game proving inconclusive.

It must have been even harder for the officials to be certain in 'real time', so it appears the correct call was made.

Scott said: "I thought the linesman was in a good position, and I did look across to him because I thought he would have given it if it went across the line. From where I was I couldn't see anything, but you'd like to think he got that right."
