Brentford FC boss Andy Scott has defended Jamie Wilson over an incident which left Chesterfield fuming.

Brentford defender Wilson gave Jamie Lowry an innocuous shoulder charge as they went in for a challenge on the touchline during Saturday's 1-0 win.

But the momentum took the Chesterfield player head-first into a concrete barrier running a few feet away from the side of the pitch.

Home fans screamed for a red card as Lowry was stretchered off, but Wilson was instead booked.

Bees boss Scott said: "It's a tight ground, and the momentum took their player towards the wall, which is only about eight feet away.

"On any other area of the pitch, it would have been a nothing challenge."
