Ryan Woods has assured the Brentford fans that the squad are going to be giving 100 per cent to ensure that bragging rights over QPR remain at Griffin Park.

The Bees have not yet sold their allocation with many fans citing ticket prices at Loftus Road as a reason for not going.

But Woods paid tribute to the supporters and hailed Brentford as a tight knit club.

“More than anything, we know they're going to be there behind us. The fans are brilliant here,” he said.

“It's a real tight knit club and it's great to be around as long as they know we're going to try our socks off for them and put in 100 per cent and we can continue the good run of form against them and keep the bragging rights.”

Woods grew up watching Walsall and knows how much games against local rivals mean as a supporter and it does rub off on the squad.

He added: “Absolutely. I remember being a kid and going to watch Walsall at the time and how much you want your team to win, especially in these types of games.

“It's massive for the fans and for us. We're going to put in the best performance for the fans and hopefully get the bragging rights.”

But, despite the importance of the fixture, the Bees are not changing their preparation for this fixture.

He explained: “Absolutely. We try and concentrate on every game whether it's Burton, QPR or anyone.

“We always concentrate on what we're going to do. We don't let anything affect our processes.

“There'll be the added anticipation and excitement. We're going to have a lot of noise and it's something I get excited by.”

Jake Bidwell is set to line up against his former side at Loftus Road for the first time; he was injured for last season's meeting in W12 and rested for the Carabao Cup clash.

Woods reflected: “Personally, I don't speak to Bidders an awful lot. I'm sure some of the lads will have banter with him.

“It'd be good to see him but it's purely business and as long as we come out on top, that's all that matters.”

Ian Holloway has predicted it to be a blood and thunder fixture and Woods believes the Bees can win ugly as well as passing sides off the pitch.

He added: “I remember reading what Dan Bentley saying about we know how to win games ugly. It's improved away from home.

“We can also play our football the way we do and we're good at that but there's the other side where we need to dig in, protect our goal and play on the counter.”
