Romaine Sawyers is hoping his first goal for Brentford against QPR will have the same impact as Jota's strike against Fulham.

In November 2014, Jota worked his way into Bees folklore by scoring a last minute winner against the Whites to cap a remarkable comeback.

That goal was the catalyst for the Spaniard to go on a run of excellent form and Sawyers is hoping his heroics can have the same impact.

He said: “Everybody knows every player is good on confidence. It gives me confidence but my team-mates have never lost faith in me with the staff behind me.

“It's good to head to that derby. The games come thick and fast and are enjoyable for the fans.”

Sawyers was booed off in his last appearance at Griffin Park knows that the supporters deserve a better display than they got against Barnsley in their last home game.

He added: “We didn't have the best of games on Saturday and we've come back in front of the cameras.

“Now we're back under the lights at Griffin Park – let's do it again. We can take a lot of confidence from QPR.

“It shows we can play the ugly side of football and the pretty side. We've got to get the consistency and we'll be all right.”
