Rico Henry vowed to return 'stronger, faster and even better' after it was confirmed by Brentford that he was to undergo reconstructive knee surgery.

The 20-year-old suffered the injury at Middlesbrough and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines and it is unlikely he will feature again this season.

It is the second long-term injury the young full back has suffered after he underwent shoulder surgery last season shortly after arriving at Griffin Park.

Henry wrote on Twitter: "Really disappointed to have to go through a lengthy time out on the sideline! But I will be back stronger faster and even better! Thanks for all the kind messages it doesn't get unnoticed."

Since joining the club from Walsall in August 2016, with the Bees paying their record fee for a teenager, the left back has made 20 appearances for the club and all of us at GetWestLondon wish him a speedy recovery.
