Sergi Canos paid tribute to the Brentford fans after they gave him a vocal reception as he returned to Griffin Park.

The popular Spaniard joined the Bees on transfer deadline day and came off the bench against Brighton to make his second debut for the club after a loan spell last season.

And Bees fans rose to welcome him back 'home' and the ovation left him struggling for words to describe his emotions at that moment.

Canos said: “It was amazing. It was amazing. It was amazing. I didn't expect that. My family was in the crowd. I have no words to describe my feelings. I love the Brentford fans.”

Canos was impressed with how Brentford fared against the title chasers and believes that they are one of the best sides in the league when on form.

He added: “It was a bit of everything but I think the team was amazing. We faced one of the best teams in the league and we matched them so I think we're one of the best teams as well.

“With a bit of consistency, we need to work together and do the right things.”

Canos called on the fans to stick together and unite as one as it strengthens the whole side.

He said: “Stay positive and stay together. We are so strong when we are in Griffin Park and when the fans are with us and I think it's unbelievable when we are one.”
