Chelsea legend John Terry is set to be making a trip to Brentford's Griffin Park ground on Boxing Day with Aston Villa and the former England captain had a difficult afternoon that nearly ended in embarassment.

The Bees, then in League One, were taking on the reigning European champions in the FA Cup fourth round.

Uwe Rosler's side hassled and harried Chelsea for 90 minutes and Terry had difficulty dealing with Harry Forrester, Clayton Donaldson and Marcello Trotta.

The defender presented a golden opportunity for the Bees to take the lead when his poor backpass forced Ross Turnbull to handle.

Brentford took the lead shortly before half time when Frank Lampard laid the ball up for Forrester. His shot was parried by Turnbull and Trotta slammed home the rebound.

Oscar levelled matters soon after the break with a fine solo goal after the Bees failed to clear their lines.

Brentford were back on top when Tom Adeyemi outpaced Terry and was brought down by Turnbull, who was lucky to stay on the pitch, with Forrester scoring from the spot.

With eight minutes left, Fernando Torres, of all people, levelled the scores and saved Terry and Chelsea an embarrassing afternoon in TW8.

The Blues, though, had things more their own way as a second half surge saw them claim a 4-0 win with Terry bagging the final goal.
