A number of players are looking for a club on the back of their current deals expiring this month.

There are a host of Championship players Brentford could look at, but what about those from the Premier League?

We have picked out four players who could step down to the Championship to revive their careers, or those coming towards the end of their playing days but could still do a decent job.

Have a look at our selections, below.

Mathieu Flamini

The Frenchman is now 33 years old but has a wealth of experience with Arsenal and AC Milan. Snapped up by Crystal Palace last September, he made a few appearances for the Eagles but struggled to command a starting place. Flamini may like the idea of staying in London and is unlikely to attract a top flight club. You'd have to pay him at least £20,000 a week, though.

Zeki Fryers

Another man set to leave Crystal Palace. The left-back never really got going at Selhurst Park in the last three seasons. He did look to revive his career at the start of last season when he was involved in pre-season and impressed in a few games. However, his level is probably the Championship and he'd appreciate a regular run of games, as well as staying in London perhaps.

Will Buckley

The winger has been relegated with Sunderland and spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, helping them into the play-offs. Was once one of the best young talents when he burst on to the scene at Brighton, but his career stagnated after moving to the top flight. But in the Championship he has been consistent and is a big threat down either wing.

Yaya Sanogo

Once scored against Barcelona for Arsenal in the Champions League. Since then, he's become a forgotten man. Spent time on loan at Crystal Palace in the top flight but didn't make much of an impact, before going on loan to Charlton two seasons ago and proved he can score regularly in the Championship. Now he's being released and may like the idea of staying in London. A step down might get his career back on track.

Marcin Wasilewski

The defensive powerhouse played his part in Leicester's promotion to the top flight a few years ago and has been a decent squad member in the Premier League, even if he hasn't been a regular starter. Now he's available on a free and may fancy another challenge in helping a side mount a promotion push as he comes towards the end of his career. He is about to turn 37. Big and strong, he'd probably be a crowd favourite instantly at Griffin Park for a season, perhaps.

Marvin Emnes

The Dutchman can play either out wide or in attack, and is set for release from Swansea City. Now 29, he made his name in English football with Middlesbrough. He spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, but could not help them from being relegated to League One. Since leaving Boro three years ago, he hasn't been able to replicate his form and needs a new start. A start of regular football.
