Rico Henry is not going to let the transfer fee Brentford paid for him hang over his head as he aims to return from injury.

The Bees signed the 19-year-old for an initial £1.5million, with the fee potentially rising to over £5m; the highest the club have paid for a teenager.

Henry, though, is not trying to think about the price tag and believe the transfer to Brentford is a good move for him.

“I try not to think about that. It's a good move for me and a good team to be at and hopefully I'll do well,” he said.

“It's a good move. The team is similar to Walsall and it's a good place to be. The lads have made me feel welcome and I worked with the manager before. It's a good place to be.

Henry has linked up with Dean Smith, who gave him his debut at Walsall, and the full back is delighted to be working with him again.

“He's played a big role and gave me my debut at Walsall. I've played 55 games now and I want to get on the pitch with Brentford,” he said.

“He brings a lot of young players through and he likes the three at the back formation and I feel suited at wing back.”
