Brentford take on Reading on Saturday as they look to get their first win of the Championship season at the eighth time of asking.

The Royals have made a slow start to the campaign and were shock 1-0 losers at home to Bristol City last weekend and, due to Derby's League Cup tie with Barnsley, had the evening off in midweek while the Bees were beaten by Sheffield Wednesday.

However, they will believe that they can climb the table after keeping the bulk of the squad that suffered play-off heartache against Huddersfield at Wembley.

GetWestLondon spoke with Jonathan Low of sister site GetReading to get the lowdown on Jaap Stam's Royals ahead of the fixture.

What to expect from Reading

Reading will look to dominate possession from the off. They will keep the ball as much as they can to ensure the opposition slowly wear themselves down trying to chase the ball. It's a tactic which worked last year and has had mixed results so far this season with possession stats high but end product sadly lacking.

Overview of transfer businessTwo key players left the club - goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi and midfielder Danny Wiliams - but seven players were brought in.

Vito Mannone and Mo Barrow have been the best signings so far, while Sone Aluko impressed on his debut last weekend.

All in all it was a successful window, it's now up to the players to deliver on the pitch.

A lack of an out and out goalscorer remains a concern, but the number of attacking midfielders and wingers who are all capable of chipping in should go some way to addressing that.

Results so far this season

Charging through: Kevin McDonald

Mixed - Reading have won two, drawn one and lost three to date. Performances have varied too, with the best probably coming at Birmingham City in a 2-0 win.

The most frustrating was last weekend when they created a host of chances against Bristol City but failed to convert any and Lee Johnson's side struck late to earn a 1-0 win.

Royals have won both of their Carabao Cup fixtures, too.

Key players

Iceland's forward Jon Dadi Bodvarsson attends a press conference

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson leads the line so it's up to him to produce in front of goal. Wingers Mo Barrow and Sone Aluko are also important in creating the chances.

Mannone has been reliable in goal and proved an excellent summer buy from Sunderland.

Formation / system

Usually three at the back so a 3-5-2 formation. That can change though with the players versatile enough to switch positions throughout the game.

Team news

Jordan Obita and John Swift are expected to return from injury. Yann Kermorgant, Omar Richards, Tennai Watson and Callum Harriott remain out.

Team selection

Predicted 11: Mannone, Gunter, Moore, McShane, Obita, Swift, Evans, Kelly, Barrow, Aluko, Bodvarsson.
