WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers keeper Carl Ikeme has joined QPR on a month's loan.

The 23 year-old stopper, who has already spent time on loan at Charlton Athletic and Sheffield United this season, has penned a loan deal until January 31.

Boss Paul Hart said: “We’re very grateful to Wolves for allowing him to come out on loan to us.

“He’s a young goalkeeper who I know they think a lot of and he’s joining us to gain experience.

“He is certainly someone I consider to be a great addition to the squad. He is coming here to challenge for the number one jersey, not just to warm the bench as a back-up.”

Ikeme progressed through the Wolves academy, and a loan spell at Accrington Stanley brought him his senioer debut in October 2004.

A hand injury curtailed his next loan spell, at Stockport County, but having returned to full fitness, he made his Wanderers debut against Chester City in the Carling Cup in August 2005.

Injuries restricted his appearances in 2006/07, but in September 2008 he took his chance, playing in 10 consecutive league games as Wolves clinched the Championship title.

Under the terms of the deal, Ikeme is not eligible to feature for the Rs in the FA Cup.
